Kolbe Inspiration™ Series Double Hung Windows
Low maintenance, easy cleaning and durability. These are the hidden beauties of Kolbe & Kolbe Inspiration™ Series double hung windows. So many features contribute to the long life and low maintenance design of these windows. The balance system provides smooth, quiet operation. Unobtrusive, recessed tilt latches allow both top and bottom sash to be tilted in or removed for cleaning. Pivot pins hold the sash in alignment and locking shoes hold the sash in place during shipping and cleaning. Lock handles match the vinyl color. Locks and keepers are recessed to contribute to the window's aesthetic value as well as the lock's durability.

And not only are Kolbe & Kolbe Inspiration™ Series double hung windows durable... they are beautiful! The unique frame design provides rich, traditional styling previously unavailable in vinyl windows. Exterior glazing allows for rich interior detailing. The glazing bead provides long-term performance while boasting crisp angles and a detailed appearance. And you won't find a lift handle moulded into the Inspiration™ Series double hung sash. Traditional lift handles provide an elegant touch. What's more, interior and exterior accessory grooves allow the easy addition of such accessories as "J" channel, traditional brickmould and mull covers. This allows the installation to be finished to complement nearly any architectural look, both inside and out.

Because aesthetics are so important in your home, Kolbe & Kolbe has set the sash back in the vinyl frame to avoid the beveled look of many vinyl windows, and incorporated a center-of-glass placement that is common only in fine wood window designs. The sash thickness creates a strong profile, disproving the old belief that vinyl windows are insubstantial.

Frame and sash corners are fusion-welded for enhanced structural integrity. These corners cannot open up, meaning that they are sealed against air and water infiltration. Sloped sills encourage water run-off while also providing a traditional look not commonly found in vinyl windows. Multi-chambered uPVC extrusions provide superior weatherability, enhance the strength of these windows and create a thermal break for insulating value while reducing noise transmission from the outside.<

A 1-¼ " prepunched nailing fin provides for easy installation and helps seal the window to the opening. a 1-¼ " setback makes it perfect for use with various exterior materials such as siding, stucco or brick. Along with dual weatherstripping, this full perimeter integral nailing fin helps serve as a wind and water shield for weathertight installations. Optional jamb extenders allow the windows to fit nearly any wall construction.

Several other features add to the beauty and convenience of Inspiration™ Series double hung windows. The 7/8" insulating glass units are an optimum thickness for exceptional thermal performance. Full screens with fiberglass mesh attach easily on the exterior of the windows. A positive screen attachment prevents the screen from being blown out by the wind and allows for easy removal from the interior.

Along with durability and beauty, the Kolbe & Kolbe Inspiration™ Series double hung window offers many options. Opt for beige or white windows. The color is actually part of the vinyl, so it can't flake or peel off and there will never be a need for refinishing. Enhance the view with Simulite the look of true divided lite or grilles-in-the-airspace. Choose the standard 7/8" insulating glass or ask for H°K glass 7/8" LoE insulating glass with argon fill* and warm-edge spacers. Many other glazing options are also available.

Combine double hung with studio units to create picture windows, or complement your double hungs with transom or radius units. Double hung bay windows are also available.
